26 exhibitors, thousands of spectators, thrilling races
On three days there was a full program on the boulevard of the Nürburgring with free admission.
It was already the fifth edition of the ADAC SimRacing Expo on the boulevard of the Nürburgring. And this was also a complete success over three days. 26 exhibitors were represented, eight more than in the previous year (2014: 11 manufacturers / 2015: 13 / 2016: 14). Almost everyone who has rank and reputation in this industry was present, which shows how important SimRacing Expo is in the computer manufacturers' scene.
The companies exhibited their high-quality simulators and other products at their booths. From Friday to Sunday the fair attracted several thousand visitors with free admission: numerous, predominantly young people who took part in one of the various virtual motor sport races and many people who (for the first time) tried one of the many simulators.
Marc Hennerici, Head of Sport and Events at ADAC Mittelrhein e.V., says: "The eSports boom is growing and growing, just like the ADAC SimRacing Expo. This year's programme was hard to beat in terms of versatility and variety". Highlights were again the virtual races of the Porsche SimRacing Trophy with Europe's best virtual motorsport drivers (winner: Maximilian Benecke) and the ADAC Digital GT500 team race (winner: Pure Racing Team Red with Maximilian Benecke and Maximilian Wenig). In addition, the final of the first championship of twelve local clubs of the ADAC Mittelrhein e.V. took place during the fair. Here the MSC Adenau won the overall ranking. There were also slot car tracks and a huge area for gaming exhibitors.
The Ringarena, with its 4,000 square metres of space, was also used, and for the first time during the ADAC SimRacing Expo. Here the official warm-up of the world championship of the Euro Touring Series took place, the most important RC car competition in Europe. Hennerici continues: "In the meantime, we have reached a point where, on the one hand, we are able to meet higher demands and, on the other hand, we are able to meet the demands of our customers." On the other hand, the event is so complex that "we have got ourselves professional support. The new website is just one example." The new name and the uniform design are intended to strengthen the perception of the ADAC SimRacing Expo as a brand.
