Daniel Abt wins the Battle of the Ring

Four competitions on two days – and all four celebrities had a lot of fun doing it.

Battle of the Ring

Fürth, 15.09.2018

They duelled on real asphalt, in the simulation cockpit and with model cars. Miriam Höller, Sidney Hoffmann, Daniel Abt and Christian Menzel had one thing above all: a lot of fun. Winner of the four competitions of the fifth ADAC SimRacing Expo on two days and winner of the Battle of the Ring is Formula E racing driver Abt.

The competition between the stuntwoman and model Höller, the co-founder and face of the Sport1 documentary soap "Die PS-Profis", Hoffmann, Abt and ex-DTM professional driver Menzel never really got serious. Nevertheless, nobody wanted to lose – and certainly not against a woman, as Miriam Höller suspected.

The first part, a drift competition in the driving safety centre, was won by Menzel. But generously gave away his three winning points: "I'm used to that and had a clear advantage over the others."

Daniel Abt won the race in the simulation cockpit over ten laps over the Grand Prix circuit of the Nürburgring ahead of Menzel and Hoffmann. Stuntwoman Höller had retired before the end of the race. Menzel said afterwards: "I'm soaking wet, have pain in my arms, my back hurts. But we had a lot of fun, and that's the most important thing." And continues: "In many points it comes very close to driving a real racing car. Only the curbs don't fit. They're too narrow, we're all over it." The simulation cockpit is a great tool for gaining experience.

This was followed by a competition on the control unit of RC cars and a race on the Carrera track. Especially on the RC cars racetrack it became clear how much sensitivity and practice the pilots need here. Because the four celebrities hardly managed to drive their speedsters accident-free over the track. Already after a few minutes the cars had overturned several times, got some dents and scratches off, lay various parts scattered over the track. This was obviously a lot of fun for them as well. And Miriam
Höller promised: "I'll come back next year and really spank the men."
