Porsche main partner of ADAC SimRacing Expo
Porsche continues its partnership with the organizers of the ADAC SimRacing Expo – one of the world’s biggest SimRacing events – and even expands its commitment: the prestigious eSports individual competition in the iRacing software, Porsche SimRacing Trophy, bears the name of the sports car manufacturer from Zuffenhausen.
What do SimRacers and race drivers have in common? They love motorsports. The ones virtual, the others real motorsports on track. Motorsports is part of Porsche’s DNA and the concept of the ADAC SimRacing Expo, that incorporates all facettes of motorsport – be it virtual or real – in one single event, has convinced the German car manufacturer. With Porsche being main partner already last year the foundation for a successful partnership has been laid to make the SimRacing event even more popular beyond German borders.
Porsche taking patronage: Porsche SimRacing Trophy
After a successful start in 2017 Porsche and the organizers of the ADAC Mittelrhein e. V. continue their cooperation. Porsche even takes a deeper dive into the eSports business: the sports car manufacturer this year is official name giver and taking patronage for the renowned eSports individual competition at the ADAC SimRacing Expo. With the Porsche SimRacing Trophy Porsche underlines the importance of virtual motorsports within its own company’s philosophy. “We are amazed by the passion of the SimRacing scene for the brand Porsche. Almost daily there is a race simulation with Porsche sports cars going on anywhere in the world. By establishing the Porsche SimRacing Trophy as a professional eSports competition on an international level we’d like to install an appropriate platform for living and sharing this passion”, explains Dr. Kjell Gruner, Vice President Marketing at Porsche. “Moreover, SimRacers with their high demand in terms of precision, discipline and sporting competition are perfect embassadors for the core values of our brand. Virtual motorsports stands for an interactive, emotional brand experience and supports us to transport the fascination for sports cars not only to motorsports fans but even beyond and reach the ever growing eSports target group”, Gruner continues.
In the individual competition of the ADAC SimRacing Expo this year many of the world’s best SimRacers meet to compete virtually. A total of 40 SimRacing pilots have the chance to qualify for the final rounds of the Porsche SimRacing Trophy taking place on September 15th at Nürburgring. The contestants race against each other with 911 GT3 Cup race cars on the digital race track of Nürburgring. Porsche sponsors the eSports event with prizes of a total value of 9,000 Euros. First place wins a Porsche Experience Training in a Porsche 911 on a real race track.
The online qualification takes place from June 16 - 23. Within this time frame the organizers provide servers on the iRacing software bearing the title “Porsche SimRacing Trophy”. All passionate virtual race drivers – professional or amateur – have the chance to secure one of the popular entries for themselves.

Moreover, Porsche will be exhibiting. With 2 simulators based on real 911 GT3 Cup sports cars and professional guidance of Porsche certified Porsche Experience instructors visitors can experience the driving behaviour of a motorsports car on the race track under safe conditions. The simulators are being used for preparation of real drive trainings.
